Glearch - The Global Search Engine is a search engine that combines results from Google, Yahoo and bing,
plus select country-specific popular search engines into one search. This service makes use of Google's Web API,
Yahoo search API and bing search API, as well as other search engines' APIs.
Results are ranked according to the ranks given from each of the different search engines.
A higher ranking is given to search results that were found in multiple search engines.
The idea behind Glearch is to help global business professionals, researchers and travelers perform searches on
various topics per country and then per language while covering ALL major search engines in one search.
To use Glearch:
1. Select a Country:
There are two ways to select the country you want to search
- Select from the interactive map on the home page. After you click on one of the colored countries you will notice that it will be highlighted and selected in the country drop menu on the top right.
- Select directly from the country drop down menu on the top right.
Note: Each time you choose a country you will find general country information listed in "Country Information" box on the homepage.
2. Select Language:
From the drop down menu on the right you can select any of the available languages you want to use in order to get the results in a specific language.
Note: Please try to use only languages that match with the country you selected or commonly used (i.e. don’t use Spanish as the selected language if you are searching for results on China because in this case you will get 0 results).
3. Select Search Engine:
From the list of engines below the map you can select the search engine you would like to pull results from. The more engines you select - the more results arranged by engine ranking you will receive. Same results will be displayed only once and are not repeated.
4. Select News Search:
Below the search engines selections you will find an option to select or deselect "News". This will allow you to search the local newspapers and sources in the specific country you selected. You will be searching using the language you selected and by the keyword you inserted in the search box. The News results will be displayed in a separate tab next to the general results.
5. Insert Keyword(s):
In the Search text box please write your search term or the keyword or the sentence you want to search for. Note: you can use any normal operators you use to search in any engine like (+, Or, -, etc) but you will not be able to use terms like (language:, loc:, location:, cache:, region:, gl=, lr=). This is due to the fact that we already are generating results per the specific country and language you selected.
How Glearch displays the results:
Results will be divided into two tabs (General, News)
General:
Results arranged by ranking and similar results from different engines are combined in one result with details about the rank, score and which engine.
Cache link is also displayed for results.
Paging included for more results display.
News:
News results are displayed with the news source.
Glearch will only provide the top ten search results pages per each general search
